That kind of joy

Never mind that the angel arrived by plane, and that the wise men and a camel were lined up like they were going through airport security.  Even Rudolph is overlooking the birth of a King.

Something special is going on here, that much is evident, even to our youngest grandson Adrian.

This is more than the birth of another baby.

This is Jesus.

Jesus did not just come to bring us Christmas,
as if we need another holiday.
He came to save the world.
Appropriate,
          that a new life proclaims
                 new life for all.

Yes, it does matter that Jesus came.
He changes everything
...far as the curse is found.

Savior.
Redeemer.
Emmanuel.  God with us.

"We tend to focus our attention at Christmas
                    on the infancy of Christ.
The greater truth of the holiday
                                   is His deity."*

Celebrate.
Rejoice.
For He has come.

For unto you is born this day
     in the city of David
a Savior,
          who is Christ the Lord.

                       Luke 2.11
